Across the bodice, the smocking is manually worked using traditional artisanal techniques into fine ribbed pleats, gathering the print into soft vertical folds. Along the lower edge, a zigzag border has been hand-embroidered in pink and white, drawing a clean, considered line beneath all that warmth and texture.

The long sleeves end in elasticated frill cuffs, traced in a fine piping of military green — the same green found throughout the print. The same piping runs along the ruffled hem, tying the whole dress together with one deliberate colour.
