The Milena is made in 100% cotton using Liberty Fabrics' Apple Orchard print: a deep navy ground scattered with small rosy fruits, pale blossoms and sage leaves that together feel both botanical and quietly joyful. Liberty Fabrics has been producing exceptional printed cottons in London since 1875, and Apple Orchard carries that same tradition of considered, lasting beauty.
At the waist, the fabric is manually smocked using traditional artisanal techniques, then hand-embroidered with rows of small daisy flowers in white with salmon centres and salmon with white centres. Each flower is placed stitch by stitch, which is why no two dresses are ever quite identical. The skirt falls into a full gathered shape that moves beautifully, finished at the hem with a delicate white crochet trim and a soft cotton lining that sits gently against the skin.
The dress is fully lined in cotton, with a grow-with-me hem that can be let down as she grows, giving this piece more seasons than most. Size & Fit
- The Milena is a sleeveless dress with a round neckline and a full knee-length gathered skirt. The smocked waistband wraps the entire dress, front and back, and is naturally flexible, gently expanding to fit without pulling. The skirt falls with generous volume, giving plenty of room to move freely.
- The hem has been cut with extra allowance so that when the time comes it can be let down and worn a little longer. A dress made this carefully deserves more than one season.
- Fastens with a zip at the centre back.
- True to size, but we recommend sizing up if your daughter is between sizes to allow the smocked waist to sit comfortably.
